There are lots and lots of forms of bravery. Some are loud and boisterous, others are simple and quiet, but whether on the front lines of a fight or in the small moments of day-to-day life, they were and are brave enough to do and say what they thought was right, even if it wasn't the "safe" thing to do.

-Andrea, 27, MN, USA My mother is not a good person. Now, everyone's mother is a person, that is, she's not perfect, has flaws like any other human being, and has good and bad days and it is important to remember that; most people's moms are just trying to do their best. However, sometimes someone's mom is genuinely a bad person, and when that is the case, a) it isn't your fault or responsibility, b) you don't owe her anything, c) you can choose to not have a relationship with her and d) don't ever let anyone tell you that your choices are wrong. Only you know the reality. I have been lucky to know many strong, positive women and what I've learned from all of them is, again, there is no one right way to be a woman. They are different and varied and wonderful and I've learned different things from each. But as different as they all were, they did not judge each other for choosing different ways of being a woman and supported other women in their choices, even if they disagreed with them. Additionally, I think its important to say that you do not have to be a mother in order to be a woman. You can like children and be caring and nurturing and also not want to be a mother and that is okay, and doesn't make you any less of a woman. You can also not like children and not be caring and nurturing, and that is okay too.
